This week we are back to Program B, which is our hurdles week for the senior athletes and walks for the U10 and U11s, which start at 6:15pm. Our Tiny Tots are also scheduled to do long jump at 6:15pm.
A volunteer roster has been developed to help with the barbeque each week. This week it is the Under 12s, 15s & 17s are asked to provide 4 parents (in total) for the barbeque.
WET WEATHER
We plan and prepare to run each week, but if we need to make a decision due to the weather, it will be made at 5:30pm and posted on our social media pages (Facebook & Instagram) and sent out on Whatsapp. To join the Whatsapp group, go to https://chat.whatsapp.com/FXqIlFSW9t9GpQLqRl8BZ9.
Our committee members all work and may not able to respond during the day to requests if we are cancelling during the day, so we ask that you wait until 5:30pm for the announcement. Please don’t ask if we are running - if we are running, we’re busy setting up.
If the ground is wet and we can still run, we have a wet weather program that removes hurdles, high jump and javelin.
ZONE CHAMPIONSHIPS
Our Zone Championship is on Friday 1 December – Sunday 3 December. Whilst it is an opportunity for our athletes to test themselves against competitors from the others Centres in our Zone, it is also about having fun. I have heard a few say “I’m not good enough” – we encourage everyone to enter as you never know how you’ll go!
How to enter: Go to www.resultshq.com.au and login. Your login is your email address. Go to the Nominations tab and select the NWMet Zone Championship and then select the events your child wishes to do. For U7 – U11, they may choose up to 4 events and for U12 – U17 they may choose up to 6 events.
GALA DAY
Our very own special style of Gala Day will be held on Sunday, 19 November at 4pm. This one will just be throws based – shot put, discus and javelin. Sign up through ResultsHQ (same process as for Zone).
TRAINING
Each Wednesday we have free training for athletes. At 6pm we have FUNdamentals training with Annika which is for new and young athletes to learn more about a specific event each week.
We also have sprint training with Tyson at 6pm and Walks with Mel at 6pm and 7pm.
For those athletes wishing to improve their performance in specific events, we have training at 7pm. Check for our Facebook posts for details each week.
